Waiting was the key, I guess.
Performance is back to normal. Plex working again.
Except for the PMS-config page, that leads me to http://192.168.0.2/plexmediaserver/index.php which results in a “File not found” which makes sense, because that folder only contains apkg.xml.
I copied the missing files from the new installed (and renamed) plexmediaserver-folder to the original plexmediaserver-folder, and all is fine again.
Thanks @matiasnowo for your research and solution, and @anon18523487 for the support!
Let’s hope that the next update will install fine.
Can’t get into SSH on an iPad - how do I do it on an iPad - can’t understand SSH, anyway!
I don’t understand SSH that much as well. But the Winscp was user-friendly enough. I don’t know the iOS solutions for this. Try to find an sftp-app.
I don’t know the app itself, but maybe Secure ShellFish is a good one?
Did this help you @arthurvasey ?
Same here, the latest update broke mine as well, even doin a clean install of an older version does not fix it - and when trying to link it, the app does not generate the 4 digit code
It looks a bit of a nightmare to me - the only thing that I can hope for is a whole new update that repairs the damage that this one caused - Plex has been giving me minor problems since summer of this year (only had my NAS for not much more than a year) - the main one being issues with the sweet fades - I don’t get the thick waveform - this one is the equivalent of dynamite and gelignite and trinitrotoluene!
Huh? This issue is about Plex Media Server. You don’t link that with a code.
Uninstall doesn’t clean the entire installation. It is already mentioned above (including a link to instructions how to completely uninstall Plex).
Did you try the other steps to solve this?
It would be best if the steps above can be baked into an update file.
Trying the steps above will help sooner.
You won’t break anything if you follow the steps. And if you do break something, remember it is already broken anyway.
Don’t worry about it being too technical. I am definitely not a SSH-wizard also. But using something like Winscp (or maybe the app I suggested for iOS) for following these steps, will do just fine.
I just received the update to 1.25.2.5319, and it installed without issues. Plex still working.
Apologies if that was a bit unclear - i meant to say that when i use the app on my smart tv to connect ot PMS, it doesn’t generate the 4 digit code that links it up to the PMS - when i manually add the server details it said the server is reachable but only secure connections are allowed
oh yes, i basically formatted and reinstalled the pc just to see what happens, and it still doesn’t connect, nothing i have tried seems to work, where in the past if i rolled back to an older build it will work.
Ok, that has nothing to do with the server. It’s either an issue with the TV app or a connection to plex.tv. There are a couple of other posts around about the older Smart TV apps having this issue. Please see of any of those are similar and provide details there.
Thank you my good sir, i realized that a bit later after posting that reply
An update has been made available for the MyCloud EX2 Ultra - but it’s still pretending that there’s no server there!
We never identified what the problem was or why the steps mentioned before worked. Every update has worked for us in testing. Your best option may be to just reset the NAS and setup PMS from scratch.
Tried a soft reset with no success - don’t want to risk a hard reset at the moment!
A soft reset won’t help. That won’t remove any bad PMS files that may be hanging around.
Edit - A hard reset will only reset the NAS’s settings and apps that have been installed. It won’t affect the actual drives and data you have on the drives.
Bad news and good news!
Bad news: I did a hard reset - but it effectively bricked it! I ended up buying a new housing - when it arrived last Monday, one of the drives took it upon itself to fail - bought a replacement drive - took several attempts to persuade the NAS that it was a new drive - had to reformat it and create a brand new RAID - I connected a HDD with some files that I created last Christmas and it seems to be working - I will try and add the rest from my powered drive over the next few days or so!
