I’ve been a Plex user for a while but was always just streaming from a friends server. I recently set up my own server and started experimenting with how to best organize my home videos. I set up an “other video” type library and added a single parent directory that has three subdirectories in it (for three different years).
After the initial scanning of the directory, when I “browse by type” I can see all 7 test videos that I put in the various subdirectories. However, if I change the web browser client to “browse by folder”, I do not see any of the subfolders but it does report that there are three items (which I am assuming correspond to the three subdirectories I created).
However, if I connect from my iPhone or iPad the “browser by folder” functionality works perfectly. It is only from my web browser that it is not working. I have tried from multiple machines and with both Safari and Chrome web browsers with the same results.
I’m running the latest Server version (Version 1.7.1.3856) and I just tried this test today so unfortunately I can not say if the problem existed in previous versions. FWIW, the web version reported in my settings is 3.6.0
I’m attaching a screen shot of how my web browser looks when I switch to “browse by type”. I tried selecting “browse by type” while using Chrome’s developer tools and got the following error:
