So i’ve been having issues with plex playing through a web browser or chromecast when they have EAC3, the odd thing is though the same files work fine, through desktop player (both windows and linux) or when playing on the android app (except when chromecasting). Server is on Truenas Scale 24.04.2, and server is 1.40.5.8761, but issue has been persistent through multiple plex updates and nas updates (it may have started from an update, as it used to work flawlessly). Ive tried deleting the codec folder, but didnt work.
I usually get the playback failed couldnt get codec message, but just before i got that, for a split second, i noticed another error popped up, an i actually had to use “prnt screen” to capture it an read it, it said network error 1001. Although adding new files, its able to get covers etc
As far as permissions go, as mentioned it used to work, which steers me away from this, but regardless every folder has both my user and user 1000 enabled to have full control.
lastly, it just came to me as i type this post, but i made a new, ssd based dataset, which i trasnsfered my apps pool to, but the plex data/config/logs/trancode folders are still on the mechanical drives, and the same dataset as the files, so not sure if this is a factor
