I just noticed that my buddybuild cert is aboiut to expire (June 9) and I can’t remember the last time my iOS Plex beta app actually updated. Have you guys discontinued using buddybuild for iOS beta player testing? If not, what’s up?
My BuddyBuild cert expires June 9 as well.
(I also am unable to reinstall the build from last week on my development iPad Air 2, newly upgraded to iOS 13/iPadOS, because iPadOS Safari now returns a desktop Safari user agent. dashboard.buddybuild.com tells me to open the link from my mobile device. The current release version of Plex seems to work fine under iOS 13/iPadOS DB1.)
When was the last time you received an email to upgrade the app? I usually open the app and it tells me there is an update (which brings me to the buddybuild page). However, it’s been months since its done that, and the cert is going to expire in 4 days.
5.16 is last buddy build I got.
where are you checking the cert?
5.12 is the version I have (iOS). Cert is in Settings/General/Profiles & Device Management
buddybuild.com Config/More Details
Can you paste the link from your last buddybuild email?
my *.buddybuild.com cert also expires june 9 2019
2 other certs there expire in 2020 and 2029
I don’t keep the buddy emails, unfortunately it has been purged from my email trash.
Here is what I have been told:
(I, myself don’t have any iDevices, so please be gentle)
That certificate is issued by Buddybuild, so it has to be renewed by Buddybuild.
iOS beta versions of the Plex app don’t auto-update to a newer beta build.
You always have to wait for the Buddybuild email to arrive and click the link in there to get a newer version.
(I assume this is then how you’ll get a fresh certificate as well)
I always received a notification when launching the beta plex app when a new version was available. I haven’t gotten such a notification in ages, to the point where I literally just realized the official app store version was more recent than my beta. I’m just curious what’s going on with the beta iOS program
I last received a new-build email on May 31. Reinstalling from that email on my iPhone does not update the BuddyBuild certificate. (I cannot test it on my development iPad because of the browser user agent issue with iPadOS/iOS 13.)
The beta app does generally provide notice that a new version is available when you open it, independently of receiving email notice.
(My current beta version is 5.16. The AppStore shows 5.15.1.)
Can you please send me the email? I’m starting to think that I was registered under an email I’m no longer using, since I’ve scoured all my email accounts and can’t find a single historical email from buddybuild. Hopefully, after I click on the link in the email, it will let me modify my information. Thanks,
Send to dan (dot) haskell (at) gmail.com
Is there any update here? Everything has expired so I’m now using the production version again.
I tried reaching out to plex like they suggested at the iOS beta email address, and 3 weeks later have yet to hear back.
Can someone be so kind as to send me their latest email from buddybuild for plex iOS beta? Thank you!!! dan (.) haskell (@) Gmail (.) com
