Every hour and half hour my fire tv live tv channels are buffering at the 3 min mark. It appears to happen on all channels. It doesn’t matter when I turn to that channel. I did check my laptop running windows and it didn’t buffer. I did find an old thread that mentioned this exact problem but I didn’t see a resolution to the problem.
There seems to be lots of related posts with nearly identical issues spanning back over a year. I used to be able to work around this issue by disabling the “new player” option in the client, but that option was removed several months back.
I also run into the crash 3 mins after a program ends (typically half hour or hour).

It is a shame they don’t seem to care. With so many people reporting the exact same thing you would think they would at least address it and hopefully be working on a fix. I am looking for an alternate app. I looked into jellyfin but you can’t pause live TV which is something I use frequently. I hate HDHOMERUN interface but am using that for now.
As an update, if I record a live TV program and watch it later it doesn’t buffer, only when I watch it live.
It’s not a hardware issue. The Nvidia Shield has the same problem and it’s one of the most powerful streaming devices you can buy. It’s a software issue within their Android app that they apparently doesn’t care to fix.
