Buffering at 3 min after hour and half hour

Every hour and half hour my fire tv live tv channels are buffering at the 3 min mark. It appears to happen on all channels. It doesn’t matter when I turn to that channel. I did check my laptop running windows and it didn’t buffer. I did find an old thread that mentioned this exact problem but I didn’t see a resolution to the problem.

I am running my server on a windows 10 laptop.

I have uploaded the crash log.

There seems to be lots of related posts with nearly identical issues spanning back over a year. I used to be able to work around this issue by disabling the “new player” option in the client, but that option was removed several months back.

I also run into the crash 3 mins after a program ends (typically half hour or hour).

Also worth mentioning, I switched from Xfinity to FiOS this week so it’s independent of the provider.

Bump in hopes of a Plex staff member actually responding to those of us who pay their salary with our plex pass.

It is a shame they don’t seem to care. With so many people reporting the exact same thing you would think they would at least address it and hopefully be working on a fix. I am looking for an alternate app. I looked into jellyfin but you can’t pause live TV which is something I use frequently. I hate HDHOMERUN interface but am using that for now.

As an update, if I record a live TV program and watch it later it doesn’t buffer, only when I watch it live.

I switched to Roku sticks on some TVs and Plex is working well.
I wonder if the Fire TV hardware is not up to the task.

It’s not a hardware issue. The Nvidia Shield has the same problem and it’s one of the most powerful streaming devices you can buy. It’s a software issue within their Android app that they apparently doesn’t care to fix.

I see that there’s a fix on the changelog for today’s update to the Android Plex app today. Fingers crossed…

I have been experiencing the same issue - Live TV streaming stopping regularly just after the change of program in the Electronic Program Guide.

As suggested in other threads, I installed the beta version of PMS 1.24.5.5173 in hopes it would solve the issue.

Unfortunately, it still happens at about 4 minutes after the program change in the EPG.

Hoping for an updated app for FireTV soon.
