I’m having issues with all media on my server not playing correctly to any clients. Playback constantly buffers despite the entire setup being on Gigabit wired LAN.
My setup is this:
- Diskstation 412+ NAS contains media
- PMS 1.13.9.5456 is on Ubuntu 17.04 Docker container
- Playback is on any number of devices (Roku, NVidia Shield, LG OLED, etc)
I have PlexPy set up and confirmed that this is occuring on media that is direct playing to the devices. The strange thing is that if I disable Direct Play and force transcoding, the playback is smooth again. I’ve uninstalled/re-installed PMS, checked to ensure there is space on the VM (not sure why that would be needed but there is space), and cannot find anything out of the ordinary in the Plex log files.
Additionally, I’ve replaced the ethernet cable going from the NAS to the switch, checked connectivity out to the desktop that runs the VM (file xfers are at just under 1 Gbps).
This Plex forum post seems to be the same issue as well
Any ideas?
