Buffering issues

Just recently I have been having buffering problems. I never had at problems before and I was wondering if might being caused by a recent plex update? I updated a couple of times in the last month and only recently noticed the buffering problem. Any ideas or suggestions. My server is a QNAP running on a 8tb drive. I primarily notice the problem when viewing PLEX on my Samsung smart TV

Thanks

Hello Dongreen,

unfortunately there are indeed some issues regarding the last updates i fear. I do not know if they are confirmed yet but i had the same issue you face.

I run PMS on my Ubuntu 18.04 server and using my Tizen Samsung TV to play content, after updating sometime this month all of my media become unplayable… even a simple mp4 wont work without buffering and skipping minutes ahead.

So what i did is this: Downgrade to plexmediaserver_1.16.3.1402-22929c8a2_amd64.deb
This is the last version that is working properly (i can confirm this).

I did not notices any problems downgrading, so if you want to give it a try use the following commands (!!! this works on Ubuntu 18.04 !!!): you may use similar command for your QNAP server.

wget https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server-new/1.16.3.1402-22929c8a2/debian/plexmediaserver_1.16.3.1402-22929c8a2_amd64.deb

sudo dpkg -i plexmediaserver_1.16.3.1402-22929c8a2_amd64.deb

Thank you for your response, after doing some additional research, I have determined the buffering problems is only when streaming to my Samsung TV a 3-year-old 55" inch. When I test the same files on my desktop, laptop or Ipad I do not have the streaming problems.

But also I have no problems when streaming other sources like Youtube, Amazon prime etc to this same tv? So still investigating.

Thanks
