[BUG] - 7.24 Beta - Add to queue acts like Play next

Server Version#: 1.18.0.1972
Player Version#: 7.24.0.13247

Logs are available and will be PM’d to a Plex employee on request. I will not post logs publicly to this forum due to e-mail address, usernames and other potentially personally identifiable information contained within them.

Only tested with music, but when clicking “Add to queue” while something is playing, it seems to act as if “Play Next” was clicked. So if I’m in the middle of Album A (track 5 for example) and add Album B to the queue, Album B will start playing immediately after track 5 (in the above example) is over.

Played with this a bit more and my original description isn’t 100% accurate…

Both Play Next and Add to Queue immediately start playing the requested item. It add the requested item after the currently playing item in the queue, then starts playing the requested item.

AlbumA.Track1 <- Currently playing
AlbumA.Track2

AlbumA.TrackN

Add AlbumB via either operation, but specifically Add To Queue (since that’s what I use most and is “more” broken) and the queue then looks like this:

AlbumA.Track1
AlbumB.Track1 <- Starts playing even if the previous track wasn’t done with EITHER play next or add to queue
AlbumB.Track2

AlbumB.TrackN
AlbumA.Track2 <- Got bumped as if play next was used for add to queue

AlbumA.TrackN

I can confirm that using “add to queue” does indeed insert after the current item. I can’t reproduce the playback issue. For me, the current song keeps playing.

I’ve seen this happen too.

I don’t use play queues much, but within the last week I know I tried it and was a little annoyed when it jumped to the new item.

I cannot reproduce the issue on my end, “Add to queue” adds item at the end of current playing content. Is there any chance you could provide logs following https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/ ? Thanks

@kaymer327 Are you able to reproduce this regardless of what you are playing? I only see this if the thing I’m playing first is an Artist. If I’m just playing an album, then “add to queue” adds at the end as expected.

I generally prefer to listen to albums, so I almost always add one or more albums to the queue. I haven’t tested with anything else.

I’ve upgraded to the latest beta this morning. I’ll re-test, report back and generate logs if it’s still an issue in the latest version.

Thanks!

OK so with 7.24.0.13291 (latest beta) and the results are a bit different:

I did the following:

  1. Navigated to artist -> Album -> hit play on Album A -> Track 1 started playing
  2. Went back to navigate to the list of albums from the same artist
  3. Track 1 is just a few seconds in at this point: clicked the “…” menu for Album B -> Add to queue
  4. Track 2 from Album A started to play

So with the latest beta, the queue was setup properly (all of Album A, then Album B was added after it), but it still effectively skips the currently playing track.

Logs have been PMd.

I’ll do more tests and generate updated logs when I can.

Thanks!!!

PS - Pixel 3 running Android 10 with October security patch.

Thanks. I’m able to recreate that issue of playback advancing to the next track after “add to queue” is used.

Still occurs with 7.24.0.13403.

Same results as described in my previous post when testing with version 7.24.0.13291

Is there any chance you could provide logs right after seeing the issue next time? I’ve checked the ones you provided via DM but couldn’t find anything “useful” enough and “unfortunately” it works find on my end. Thanks in advance

Still happens with 7.24.0.13466

Logs will be DM’d shortly. I collected them within 2ish minutes of reproducing the problem. If this wasn’t fast enough, let me know and I’ll do it again ASAP…

PS - I forced stopped, cleared cache, then reproduced the problem in an attempt to get you the cleanest logs possible…

I haven’t tested in any of the other 7.24 betas, but this appears to be fixed in 7.25.0.13736.

Thanks!!!
