[BUG] AC3 files outputting as E-AC3 (DD+) to amp

Server Version#: 1.19.4.2935
Player Version#: 8.3.0.18912 (14279def)

A strange one here that I’ve not noticed before.

Everything updated to the latest versions, I’m using Plex player on Nvidia Shield TV (2019) with the server on Synology 1019+.

ANY file I play that has a 5.1 AC3 soundtrack will output to my amp as DD+, so therefore the amp thinks it is being fed E-AC3. I’ve checked the server dashboard and Plex server (on Synology NAS) thinks it is direct playing AC3. Playback info on the player also says direct play AC3.

I’ve played the same files direct on Kodi and my amp correctly identifies the vanilla 5.1 AC3 soundtrack (not DD+).

Any ideas?

Nobody from Plex interested in this one?

I troubleshooted this myself - turns out it was an Nvidia Shield (2019) problem - seems the Shield likes to apply DD+ to everything before sending it to the amp, I just turned off the Dolby Processing and let my amp handle it, properly.

edit: even though this ONLY happens in Plex and not, say, Kodi for example…
