Bug: adding films to Collection resets Sort Name to default

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058 for Windows (running on Win Server2008R2)
Player Version#: web interface

I’ve discovered the “Collections” feature and been adding movies to new collections.

However, every time I add the collections tags and hit save, the Sort Name in the movie resets to it’s default/original value.

Example: I manually changed sorting titles for Mission: Impossible (Missions Impossible 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 instead of roman numbers, Ghost Protocol, etc.). But they reset back to e.g. Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

Out of curiosity I just tried this, and I see the same thing. It certainly shouldn’t be doing that.

Until it is fixed, you can prevent it from happening by setting the lock on the Sort Title field (click on the lock so it is orange). I tried the same thing with the lock engaged, and it kept my custom Sort Title.

Simple and useful workaround.

Thanks for the quick reply!

When you edited the sort title in the first place the lock did not automatically get engaged (turn orange) when you edited it?

Seems I can’t reproduce the problem.

Just edited a “Monty Python Live (Mostly)” by removing “(Mostly)” from the Sorting title and it automatically locked the field.

Selected this and other MP titles and created a collection: this time the field didn’t reset.

Very weird.

When the lock was first introduced, I, and a lot of other people, would add something to a field, then reflexively click the lock, disengaging the lock while thinking we were engaging it. It took a bit to train myself to remember that the lock automatically engages when you type something in. Don’t know if that’s what happened here, but thought I’d mention it.

In any case, there’s no reason the Sort Title should change when you add a Collection tag, whether the lock is engaged or not.
