I suspect this might be a simple fix that can be done in a few minutes. Please take a quick read- I’ll try to be detailed but to the point.
I’m using the Alexa Plex skill. Other voice commands work, but saying “Alexa, tell Plex to loop” or “Alexa, tell Plex to shuffle” does not work. My Plex playlist just continues to play in regular order and then stops, with no shuffle or loop.
In response, Alexa replies “Turning loop mode, loop mode on.” or “Turning shuffle mode, shuffle mode on.” Please note that these are the identical responses Alexa gives if you use the native (non-Plex) Alexa commands to control Alexa’s native loop/shuffle mode, which are “Alexa, loop” or “Alexa, shuffle”.
I suspect Alexa is misinterpreting the Plex voice command syntax as a native Alexa command and processing it directly instead of passing the command on to the Plex server. Note that for all other similar Plex voice commands (“Alexa, tell Plex to pause/resume/next/previous/etc”) Alexa does not give any spoken reply at all. Alexa just says nothing and immediately completes the action I requested. So the fact that Alexa is responding in the same way as a native command seems unusual.
I wonder if you could change/tweak/extend the Plex loop/shuffle commands to something more unique. Maybe then Alexa would not get confused and would pass the command along to the Plex server. As an extreme example, what if the commands were “Alexa, tell Plex to cycle” or “Alexa, tell Plex to randomize”?

Also, my Plex server is running on Windows and is confirmed to be up-to-date today. I just installed the Alexa Plex skill yesterday, so it should also be up-to-date. All other Alexa Plex voice commands that I’ve tried work properly. I’ve tried this on two different Amazon Echo Dot devices and they both behave the same.
