Our smart speaker (no category here) was working fine streaming from my Windows server on home network.
Suddenly stopped working. The alexa skill works as usual but is just silent when streaming.
Have retarted everything. Android app still working fine.
All my music is FLAC encoded.

I have found that if the plex skill is running on a stereo pair of echo dots playing music from a playlist, as long as the tracks are in MP3 files the playlist plays ok, as soon as it hits a track that is in flac format it will play that track then stop playling the playlist.
if I unpair the two echo dots it will play the flac files correctly.
almost certainly related in some way to your problem.
I have rebooted the echos dots, rebooted plex server, rebooted wifi mesh, rebooted firewall, rebooted ISP router
I have checked for updates for the echo dots
I have disabled plex skill rebooted echos again then reenabled skill
none of which has made any difference
Plex server Version 1.24.3.5033 running on linux
anyone got any suggestions what else to try

What if you just play the flac encoded file, do you hear it?
I understand the alexia skill does content negotiation with the server as echos can play flac whereas others players get mp3 only, even if file is flac. Perhaps an update some where broke that?

I have a pair of echo dots each of which has a different wake word
Left hand Echo Dot wake word Alexa is software version 5805753220
Right Hand Echo Dot wake word Echo is software version 5805750148
both say they have no updates to do, from memory I think the right hand one is the oldest, but as they look identical its hard to be sure.
I created a playlist containing only 2 tracks both flacs
When I started the playlist from the left hand echo (wake word Alexa) it played most of the first track then stopped
When I started the playlist from the right hand echo (Wake word Echo) it played both tracks correctly.
But after that neither of them will play the tracks at all
looking the the plex server debug logs there’s nothing that looks like an error
I suspect the fault lies somewhere at the amazon end, but without any proof
not much help really

As far as I know nothing has changed since it last worked. Except Winowos update

I have two 2nd generation Echo’s running as a stereo pair with an Echo Sub. Always worked perfectly to have Alexa play music from PLEX from Windows 10 media server. For a long time now, Alexa recognizes the PC/Server, the song/album/artist titles, library radio, etc., it says it is now playing… then nothing ever happens, just silence. So frustrating. Doesn’t work at all. Used to work so great. Now I have two bookends and zero sound from my PLEX library going through the Echo devices. Talk to Alexa who responds perfectly, then… nothing. What changed? It is a PLEX pass feature now? An API issue? I don’t know where to turn. I’m going through the community threads and it appears I’m not alone. 10.22.2021
Definitely seems to point to the Alexa skill for echo devices being broken. Perhaps older devices?

2nd gen devices. I have PMS Version 1.24.4.5081 - up to date as of 10/23/2021 7:44 PM Pacific.
Where do you find a model number for the 2nd generation Echo’s??? I can’t find a model number for the 2nd generation echo’s, certainly not on either device, nor on my original Amazon order, or by Googling anything about it on the Internet, YouTube, here on the PLEX forums, etc. I have seen 1st gen model numbers here, but not 2nd. It’s just the 2nd generation taller echo. Two of them connected as a stereo pair to an echo sub. Works for all streaming services except PLEX. Used to work great. Now silent. Tried everything such as reinstalling PLEX, disabling and reenabling the Alexa skill, etc. Re-analyzing the PLEX music database… Just seems like it’s never going to come back. Day after day, week after week. No luck, and I try daily.
Mine is 1st gen. I asked alexia but she didn’t say a modle no.
I also did just about everything except factory reset echo.
Come on Plex, can some one please respond d and fix?
Plex just updated to Version 1.24.5.5173. Still no Alexa/Plex to Amazon 2nd gen Echo’s running as a stereo pair with an Echo Sub. Just silence even though she says it’s playing.

Let’s keep yelling about it. On the 4 or 5 threads going about this I did see one thing saying they were looking into it. I sure hope so!
So I tried on an Ech show 8, same plex account different amazon account.
That works fine.
I forced alexa to reconnect to plex with a repeat sign in for auth. Made no difference.

There are no model numbers on 2nd generation Echo’s, just a rubber bottom. There are model numbers on 2nd generation Echo Dots. Still no luck getting Alexa to stream. Well, some. Alexa will play PLEX music through ONE 2nd generation Echo or Echo Dot, but not through two as a stereo pair w/an Echo Sub as before. Just silence. Still where I started. Ask Alexa to play through the stereo pair of Echo’s with a stereo sub, she knows the system, says it’s playing, but nothing is. With one Echo or Echo Dot (2nd gen) Alexa can get Plex music to fire right up. I did everything you can do as far as having all the devices deactivated and reactivated from scratch, created the pair, added the sub, redid the Alexa skill, etc., etc., nothing makes any difference or helps. What I didn’t know is that it would have still worked with one Echo or Echo Dot, but not the stereo pair any longer. All other services Spotify, Prime, Pandora work fine with the stereo pair and sub. Left a complaint update with the Alexa skill in the app as well. Very frustrated.
Still not working. Alexa says “Playing Library Radio.” Stream never starts or shows up on PLEX dashboard now playing on the two Gen 2 Echo devices running stereo with Echo Sub. Plays fine and shows up as now playing on one Gen 2 Echo Dot (both .mp3’s and flac files play fine). Wish someone would look into this.
And still no go on gen 1 echo.
Thus is very poor from plex. So glad I never waisted my money on the pass.
