Issue still exists and persists on Android app version 10.18.0.968. I rolled back to 9.21.3 and the issue/bug does not occur. Wanted to create a new thread since I cannot reply to the existing one.
The issue persists. My “Other Videos” library is YT videos downloaded with yt-dlp. As part of my download process, I grab all the metadata and embed it, along with the YT thumbnail in .jpg form. The thumbnail is named the same as the video file.
If I manually set the poster and background to the downloaded YT thumb jpg, then it displays it properly (and in proper landscape format, thus using the “other videos” library type instead of Movies type).
Even though I reported this regression basically the day after that breaking update, I’m surprised nobody has taken the time to fix it.
I’m glad I’m not the only one
I’ll keep this thread alive in case a PlexDev ever looks at this. Can’t help but feel the mobile players are more of a side hustle and have been somewhat neglected over the years. The bug report is now nearing its second birthday…
They probably assigned low priority. I think it’s mid prio since it actually noticably affects usability for all users using basically any setup. For most users it’s just not enough to file a report and just adds to the overall “mixed” experience of the app. And it should be low effort to implement, since it already fetches the poster when clicking on the entry. Ideally just changing a single line.
