Any updates @Moussa?
@dxhelios Thanks for the data points, it mostly lines up with our observations.
@DJ_Callyman Microsoft are still investigating with the data we have given them.
Is HDR stripped out when transcoding? Mine looks slightly washed out when playing back 4K movies.
When transcoding video - yes. When Plex will support HDR to HDR transcoding it will not be washed out.
After latest updates all audio is broken.
Windows OS: Windows 10 Pro v1803 build 17134.376
Plex Server: 1.13.9.5456
Xbox One X client: 2.20.0.70
Xbox OS build: 1811 181107-1810
In MP4 mode 4K HDR AC3 still works.
In MKV 1080p/H264/HEVC AC3/EAC3/FLAC5.1 - no sound output and no errors. Again, no sound basically on all MKVs! If you copy these files on USB you can play them via Xbox Movies or Xbox Media Player app with sound. This issue needs to be addressed ASAP.
Also latest updates to Windows and/or Plex destroy Transcoder cache folder so you may receive transcoder errors from FFMPEG. Resolution: create new Transcoder cache directory. This was observed on 2 Plex Servers.
Update: Dolby Amaze demo MP4 H264+EAC3 also without sound output. Plays fine from USB.
Ok it has been almost a month. Any updates @Moussa?
This still is happening with my xbox one x.
And I have the added problem of constant buffering on 4k hdr content that had the container changed to mp4 and dolby atmos stripped.
It is different issue. There is no Atmos support AFAIK.
Almost Xmas and still.no updates to direct play without buffering, what a pile of tosh.
Still having issues with this here too
Now working after the update with direct play and direct stream.ticked!!
Kaboom!
No it is not. Above 60Mbps Plex switches to transcoding of video on DTS. I have no video with AC3 to test it right now, but I assume behavior is the same. Lost frames are present. Lower than 60Mbps we are ok.
Wait? Really?
What was the version you updated to? And was it the PMS or the Xbox client?
Nope! STILL DOES NOT WORK
10-bit HVEC AC3, DTS and AAC all fail and go into it’s buffer loop regardless of bitrate.
Why am I not surprised this STILL has not been fixed.
First reported in Aug of 2017, it is now almost february 2019.
Pathetic.
I worked at MSFT for 13 years and I know how MSFT solves problems. Plex guys do not give a sh* and simply lying to us. If Plex really wanted, it is not so hard to gather diagnostics data. They got ~200$ or similar € for lifetime license and now do not even bother to provide updates. I can tell from my experience that even on very hard to catch problems with inexperienced MSFT engineer it may take several months to understand exact reasons of the problem - in this case it is obvious that Plex do not care.
I can understand if Plex is a team from 3 freelancers who cannot afford proper support options, but this…
When wil Devs post of an update to this issue? Any update @Moussa
