On Shield TV and other Android devices in an IPv6+IPv4 environment, opening the app is very slow, and loading all content on one movie detail page takes 10 seconds or longer. However, under the same network conditions, iOS devices and PCs experience no issues. When IPv6 is disabled on Shield TV, access becomes normal, indicating that this is likely a bug in the Android app.
btw:My PMS is connecting the net with ipv4 only.
I have a dual stack environment and I’m not seeing the same behavior, not on my android phone nor my Android TV (Sony).
I do however notice that it actually never uses IPv6, and if I block IPv4 access it doesn’t work at all, it just keep loading the dashboard content and if I already had content loaded, it can’t start streaming.
This is odd, because all other tested clients (MacOS, web app) do work in the exact same environment so it’s not a connectivity problem.
It would be interesting to know if your devices actually tries to connect over IPv6 (if you have that possibility)
The Android app may prioritize IPv6 connections in dual-stack environments. When IPv6 is disabled on Shield TV, everything works fine. However, not all Android devices allow users to disable IPv6, leading to extremely slow loading times. This likely happens because the app initially tries to connect via IPv6, fails, and then switches to IPv4, repeating this process for every page load and creating a poor user experience.
I have no issues with a shield TV and dual stack.
