Host: Synology DS918+ DSM7.1.1-42962 Update 6
Server Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.32.5.7328-2632c9d3a-x86_64_DSM7 (Package Centre)
Player Version#: Web player
My mum who uses an older PC contact me to say my Plex was broken.
I checked and all was well.
She said, no it’s still broken - all it shows is a black screen, so I forced transcoding on my home PC to mimic her playback and yea, black screen.
I can see the transcode files be created and grow in the Sessions folder and the CPU is busy working on it, but the players show a black screen with no timestamp increase.
The back-end is showing sessions in the Dashboard and the playback counter is increasing there, but the client is frozen with the black screen and no time increment. It’s as if the client loses connection to the server, but the server isn’t aware.
I have docker Plex as a backup on the NAS, so I stopped the package, started the container and it was the same. (the container always pulls the latest version on startup)
So I stopped the container and went back to the Package center and rolled back to an older server version: PlexMediaServer-1.31.3.6868-28fc46b27-x86_64_DSM7
Started it up and after waiting a few minutes for the database migration I tried again.
Transcoding is back to working again, so there appears to be something up with this version.
