I recently discovered you can add descriptive labels to disc numbers (as it’s just a text tag), which I’ve been using for some of my music where I feel it makes sense, as seen in this MusicBee screenshot.
However, when I imported this album into Plex, it sorted them as separate albums with the same name, rather than as two discs of the same album as expected. When I tried to merge them they were both mashed together, as they both get marked as Disc 1. Editing the second disc to Disc 2 makes merging possible, though it still doesn’t show the label as expected.
The fact that you can doesn’t mean that you should.
Only integer numbers are working in Plex, as it expects disc numbers to be just that.
It’s truly a shame that such a great feature isn’t supported by Plex. Though then again, Plex is very lacking with music in general, so I suppose it’s not surprising.
