[BUG] LG TV buffering display logic

Server Version#: 1.20.3.3483
Player Version#: 5.2.1

Observed behavior:
When watching Live TV, every so often Plex will display on overlay of the TV video which shows a spinning orange circle and say “Buffering” below it. During this time, the video and audio continue to play perfectly. The overlay is displayed sometimes for just a fraction of a second and other times for 2-3 seconds.

Expected behavior:
Plex should only display a buffering overlay when the video/audio is not actively playing…like YouTube. It should not obscure a moving video image with a buffering overlay.

Discussion:
This only happens while using the LG TV client (direct stream) playing live TV. Any other client I use (android, web etc.) has no buffering issues watching Live TV even if I force transcode etc. while playing 4k HDR simultaneously on other clients. It’s not a network issue or system resource issue because it happens when it’s the only client Plex is using and I can tax my system way harder without a hiccup with multiple other clients. Also, the the actual video/audio stream never has a hiccup…Plex just obscures the display for no reason.

I have seen that also. Not sure if it related but why when I playback stuff I have recorded it’s direct streamed instead of direct playing like it used to?
