I tested the latest Plex for iOS update (4.14) on iPad which works perfect (could have been a program without subs). I then tried to do the same on iPhone (6). The pre-play screen hangs and gave an error to retry. I then clicked the retry button and the wait spinner ran without stopping. I checked the PMS logs and i could see a lot of these in Plex Media Server.log.

Jun 28, 2017 10:52:59.334 [0x7fb5dbd11700] ERROR - ClientProfileExtra: video transcode target already exists for streaming hls
After 2-3 mins PMS crashed. I haven’t been able to find the reason for the PMS crash in the logs. No crash report created.
This only happens if the program has subtitles. If i try the same on a local program without subtitles - it works.
PMS: 1.7.4.4017 Plex for iOS: 4.14 QNAP FW: 4.3.3.0229
PMS and Plex for iOS logs attached. Occurred at 10:50. PMS logs was copied before PMS restart.
@mm98 said: PMS Logs attached. It is actually “flooding” my logs when the iOS app is waiting/hanging.
Sorry what is crashing ? no evidence of a Plex Media Server crash in the logs you attached.
I misunderstood - I think because of the title of the topic
Is the issue that you get continuous errors when viewing live tv on the iOS app?
Please edit the title of the thread to reflect that and please could you now also include the Plex for iOS logs
I will need matching set of logs - so if the iOS app logs do not go cover time in the PMS logs you just attached, please include a new set of matching logs. I am sorry for the misunderstanding - I was looking for a Plex Media Server crash
Like i wrote in the initial post there weren’t any crash reports or indications of a crash in the logs. PMS has been updated in the meantime.
The problem with closing captions still exists. I can play any Live TV without closing captions, but when i select ex. a german channel with closing captions (I’m from Denmark) the iOS app hangs and will now crash the iOS app (and not PMS anymore). Plex for iOS Logs attached - matching the previous PMS logs.
Is it a loop of repeated errors?
If you check the PMS Plex Media Server logs (the 5 files), they contain the same info over and over again for a very short period (time-frame)

Thank you - this has been referred to the development team
This can be raised as a separate issue and I can split out the posts into a new topic
At this moment what I am after is if this issue is still there

I can confirm that closing captions are working on some channels. Other channels that have ex. “Teletext” and “Teletext subtitle”, only show “Teletext” overlay on iOS.

Sat1 on iOS:
I don’t know if this is intentional … I just report what I see Lots of European channels use teletext subs …
