[BUG] Missing search for non english title

Hello,

If I set my plex interface in English, when I search for example “The Adam Project”, the search found the movie :

But If I use the french interface (my native language), and I search the name of the movie in French “Adam à travers le temps”, the movie is missing :

But the strangest thing is if I search the English title in the french interface, it found the movie with the french title !

+1 using spanish interface

+1 Same for other languages, I am using german and is has the exact same behaviour for several movie titles, e.g. Godfather, Night at the museum, …

Same here for the german movies.
Interesting: a search for the german title “Mogli” finds only the User-Server version with the german title.

But writing it the “Mowgli” (as in english), the Netflix version is found, too but it’s written in the german spelling.

For many other movies the search finds my server’s version but doesn’t list my version under “more ways to watch”.

+1 exact same problem ! I’m French : Plex bug search engine - YouTube
Please fix !
Thanks

I’ve the same problem since 2 months …

help @anon18523487 do you think you can fix ?
Thanks in advance

does this persist even after optimising database? Because when you change titles, it needs to be rebuilt and it can only happen with a database optimisation

ah apologies. These are the Discover search results. Don’t know if they work with other languages.

I’m not sure what you guys mean by “French interface” or “German interface”. If all you’ve done is change the language setting in Web so that your UI is translated to another language, that doesn’t change the title of the movie. The search will search the title as it is saved on your server.

For Discover, Plex’s database only has titles in certain languages. We do not have “The Adam Project” in other languages so that is the only title that will appear in a result when you search, regardless what language your UI is set to.

Hi, but when you have a look at the picture @mrMuppet posted, the search results are pictured with the german movie title, which means that the german movie title is known.
Why is it only possible to find the movie via the english title and not the german title?

Again, I don’t know what the “German interface” is. If they are just setting the language in Web to German, all that does is translate what’s on the page. The results also get translated. So it may not be the German title, but the American title being translated into German.

This is what I see if I set Web to German. This is a translation of the movie. Plex doesn’t even offer that movie in Germany. Keep in mind that “Mogli” is the German translation of “Mowgli”

If I change the language to some odd one that we can’t translate, you will see it still shows the English title.

Hi and thanks for your reply, have ou seen my video screenshoot : Plex bug search engine - YouTube
When you search for a film you use the title of your country, you do not necessarily know the American title. IMDB recognizes the title of the film regardless of the country. It’s not possible to implement this in Plex? That would be really cool.

Hello,

Any chance to have an update ?
Thanks

always the same problem …
Please developer team can you fix ? I don’t know the Americain title of each movies/series …

I’m having the same issue. For example I try to search “The Godfather” in russian and it will not appear in the search. But once I search it in english it will find it and even show me the russian name of that movie. So… Will be there a support for searching in other languages? (maybe it’s only non latin ones)

Same here with french language

@anon18523487 Do you think you can fix ? A lot of non english member are impacted.
Thanks in advance.
