[BUG] New Airings detected as Reruns on Plex

Currently running Plex Server Version 1.8.1.4139 on a QNAP TS-451+

I’ve noticed that Plex has been missing some new recordings. I have added a series recording for American Ninja Warrior (New Airings Only):

However, it doesn’t detect S9 • E12 as “new” airing so it doesn’t get scheduled until I manually schedule the single episode for recording.

Hmmm . . .I’m seeing the same thing and it’s probably not a bug but an issue with the Epg.

Here’s what I do to solve the issue - check to see if you have the show set to HD Only resolution in the advanced options (like I did).

I just changed mine to be any resolution but limited it to the HD channel and it’s now picking it up.

When looking into this I clicked on the show and it showed HD only . . . usually I force a refresh of the EPG to take care of this issue, but I think going forward that instead of changing the resolution that I’m going to limit the channel.

I used to hit this a bunch but that was early one and I haven’t hit this in weeks as far as I know . . .

Wonder if we should submit the form here . . . .

Definitely looks like an EPG issue to me as well. Needs to be submitted using the form in the link @EABenton provided.

@johnm_ColaSC

Thanks for the confirm - I actually just noticed that thread this morning - I’ll do a submit as well.

Tho I still think I am going to change from choosing the resolution to specifying the channel when I can to avoid issues like this.

I do all of my recordings with New and Repeat airings so I record everything. If an episode already exists in my library Plex ignores the airing.

It really should be the default. A lot of posts/threads could have been eliminated if it was.

@johnm_ColaSC

I do the same - new and repeat. But since the show wasn’t tagged with HD - it wasn’t scheduled. That’s why I am going to switch away from choosing the resolution to choosing the HD channel

@EABenton that would probably be better. I personally leave the limit to channel and resolution options set to any. But I am trying to grab all episodes of shows the wife and I watch. Some older shows are only SD. I do have the option to replace lower resolution recordings selected. Have had several episodes that I already had recorded get replaced by new recordings because I had an SD version that was replaced with a HD version.

@johnm_ColaSC

lol :slight_smile: I’m doing the same thing for some of the shows that I love - however SD drives me crazy on my 70 inch tv so I have to grab only the HD

Thanks everyone!

As suggested, I confirmed I already had my resolution setting to ANY

But it looks like the EPG data has been fixed and it’s show up as NEW now without having me to manually schedule new recordings.

I’ll be sure to file an EPG issue the next time I see this.

Once again, thanks all!
