I have those issues with irish tv channels on plex dvr. I’m using the sky ireland program guide.
None of the airings are classified as new so if you select “new episodes only” nothing will be recorded and nothing shows up in new episodes tonight. Uk channels work fine though.
As i have to select new and repeat airings, repeats will be recorded unless i limit the airing time. If i limit the airing time to the time the new episode starts, it excludes this episode for some unknown reason.
After i posted i read in another thread that setting the pre recording time to 0 solves the airing time issue so at least thats one issue resolved (still seems to be a bug though).
I have this issue also. It’s so annoying as it annoys my wife which in turn annoys me.
Brand new show set to record and it does not record. You have to record episodes individually.
To your list (similar issues seen with UK Freeview) you can add the following EPG issues;
1.) Different daily slots for local news do not all record, the seem to have the same episode number and therefore when the first of the day records the subsequent ones are incorrectly ignored.
2.) Conflict scheduling is hampered by the fact that subsequent airings of a new episode are listed at “repeats” and therefore they are omitted as a possible solution to help resolve recording capacity/conflict issues.
3.) Gracenote data vs. broadcast EPG data often differs. Whilst the broadcast EPG has less metadata it’s often way more accurate than what is included in Plex. I don’t know about you but I prefer accuracy over bells and whistles any day.
4.) This is a small issue but also relevant as it highlights the outdated and inaccurate data that the EPG often consists of. Much of the artwork is very out of date, some of it is embarrassingly so. For example Jackie Bird’s profile picture is used for Scottish local news. Not only do all other BBC news pieces differ by having BBC decal as their placeholder but there’s also the well known issue that JB is disliked immensely by many Scots (I’m sure there are those that love her) including this household who see her as arrogant, unbiased Yoon trash. Thankfully due to earlier notes issues I only have to gaze upon her coupon (local vernacular for ‘face’) once a day and not 2/3 times.
I have seen these issues for quite some time. I have gone through several different itrerarions of Plex server and all of these issues have persisted which leads me to suspect that these issues are not caused by the Plex buld it’s self but the accuracy or lack thereof of the EPG data supplied externally.
The lack of any movement by support or development to improve or fix theses issues is leading me to question my subscription with Plex. I may cancel Plex pass given that it’s not 100% fit for purpose.
Was hoping this would be resolved after returning to plex but no change. Can we have a option to limit to recording after a certain time?
In my case some shows have a new episode each evening but some days it might start at 7.30pm and others at 8.00pm. Repeats are shown the following afternoon. As the shows arent classified as new, plex will record the first episode of the day i.e. the repeat. If i set specific time to 7.30pm then it will miss the day its on at 8.00pm and vice versa.
