On LG TV can’t use ASS or SSA subtitles. Activating them make the video stream to pause with an infinite rotating icon and there it stays. Eventually, after like 30 seconds, it starts, but stop immediately after and so on.
Only SRT is safe. ![]()
So, no way to report bugs to developers?
Your server is not capable of transcoding video and depicting subtitles in it. I mean it’s not a bug.
Why should the server encode it? ASS, like SRT, is a text format file; there’s no need to encode everything like with image formats.
Maybe because TV couldn’t render all these fancy fonts and graphics? It’s how things works. If server is not capable you got stuttering.
These subtitles worked perfectly some software versions ago. On the same TV.
That’s why I think it’s a bug.
Ok, I found the problem:
There’s a setting in the Plex client to force the server not to try to encode subtitles. Disabling it, everything works again.
I just can’t understand why in more that three months nobody from Plex support figured out a so simple thing. ![]()
