Plex for WebOS suddenly was unable to playback transcoded streams, specifically when using ASS subtitles. I don’t know if there’s a way to force transcoding, but the file plays fine without subtitles enabled & when “Burn Subtitles” is set to “Never”. Burned subtitles were working fine until some point on 1/7/26, the television may have updated.
This may be an issue with parsing incoming HTTP requests. I have a number of errors in the logs showing HTTP requests being parsed from incorrect starting positions:
Request: [192.168.1.71:37044 (WAN)] GET /video/:/transcode/universal/session/8n8u3a6ikjj9veyk82b2kndf/base/index.m3u8 (27 live) #780d Signed-in
Logs: Error parsing HTTP request: ET /video/:/transcode...
And, for a different instance of the same request: Error parsing HTTP request: eg4%26audioCodec%3Daac%2Cac%2Ceac3%2Cmo2%2Cmp3)...
Burned subtitles work fine with an older Vizio television that we also have. It does not seem to be making the same request, however, so there could be some difference I’m not aware of.
Appreciate any help! Let me know if you need more info. I can attach server logs if needed, but I was getting an error that the file size was too large.
