Server Version#:1.27.2.5929
Player Version#:9.4.1.33413
way to reproduce :
-
open plex android app(latest), play an tv episode with external Chinese srt loaded. Close app.
-
Replace the .srt file on the server with a new corrected file.
3.play the episode with plex android app, still old subtitle.
4.try plex dance (remove media folder,scan folder,clear trash,clear bundle,readd media folder,scan),
5.play the episode with plex android app, still old subtitle.
6.uninstall app ,clear data,reinstall app
7.play the episode with plex android app, still old subtitle.
8.play the episide in web browser, new subtitle is loaded.
9.play the episide in android app, force transcode, new subtitle is loaded.
it seems that plex server is somehow caching .srt file and this cache can never be cleared.
tried deleting the cache folder , media folder etc. no effect.
Has anyone faced the same issue here? Seriously I think this is a bug.
How to force clear the subtitle cache?
I’ve not seen this issue myself. However, looking at your steps I don’t see you saying that you re analysed the movie/show after updating the subtitle. I’d suggest doing that after you completed the plex dance steps.
On the off chance you have not done that it’s worth a shot.
Hi,thanks for the reply. May I ask which app do you use, plex app on ios or plex app on android?
I myself tried the plex ios app, no issue. It seems that this is an plex android app issue.
We use android tv via a nvidia shield the vast majority of the time. Then roku, android mobile and linux desktop for the rest.
Typically we don’t change our srt after adding to the server but have had to change in the past without issue.
You sure there is no embedded subtitles in your media confusing things ? Could be a bug, wouldn’t say most folks change subtitles that often.
