I have noticed that the last video (or whatever I’m playing) that I happen to stop playing, is NOT updating on the TOP SHELF for the Apple TV, when you highlight the APP on your device. It continues to show videos, etc that you have already watched, that you we’re not watching when you stopped. This is in regards to “Continue Watching…” When I test this out with the desktop client, it works the way it’s supposed to.
Maybe @darcilicious has seen this? I don’t have my ATV4K up and running at the moment.
Was this working previously? If not, then on some Plex apps there’s an Enhanced Player option. Try to enable that if it exists while we wait for someone else to drop bye.
Is this happening to all users, just managed users, or just admin users?
So this happened to me while I went to go see if I could duplicate; I hadn’t used my Apple TV in more than a week. I went to my Apple TV (always on) and started browsing the Plex Top Shelf. It was fine briefly and then disappeared leaving just the Plex logo.
I went down to another top shelf app and it wasn’t showing anything other than the app logo too.
I then went into Plex, let the Home Screen update and then went back out and the Top Shelf for Plex was there as expected.
Since no one has mentioned specifically what they’ve done to try and fix (always helpful to include in your post!), here are some ideas to try and get Top Shelf back – after trying each of these, leave the app and check for Plex’s Top Shelf:
I’m the only user on my Apple TV (live alone) so I’m not familiar with multiple users.
I have force closed the app (same problem), I have rebooted the Apple TV (same problem), I haven’t deleted and reinstalled the app (I’ll try that sometime soon).
All the other apps I have my top shelf work, with no issues. I should also note that the app for iPhone/iPad and Plex Media Server on my PC don’t have this issue, it’s only happening with the app for Apple TV (at least on my end).
P.S. My Top Shelf finally updated out of the blue tonight, I would take a screenie but I don’t think it would be permitted here!
I doubt this is the case, the problem doesn’t happen with any of my other Plex apps except for the Apple TV. Another person replied on here that same thing is happening with him as well. I didn’t have this issue with the old version of Plex for Apple TV.
Tonight, I literally had to log out of my Plex account on my Apple TV, then log back into it to get the top shelf to update correctly (and that was after a reboot after logging out of the App, reboot, then logged back in), then it displayed properly. There is definitely a bug somewhere, whether it’s within PMS or the app, I’m not sure which but it’s getting frustrating. I didn’t have this issue with previous versions of (whatever).
