BUG: Plex for Samsung TV using remote settings for local

Server Version#: 1.19.4.2935
Player Version#: 4.29.6

I was trying to play a movie on my Samsung TV which is on the same network as my server and it kept buffering. According to the web dashboard it was attempting to transcode down to 720p. After looking at the settings in the app I saw that the local was set to original quality and the remote was set at 720p. I switched remote to original quality and restarted the video then it played via direct play. I switched the setting back and forth again to confirm and the same issue happened. Each time it was showing on the dashboard that the server knew the player was local but it was still attempting to transcode as if it was remote instead.

When you checked that on the web dashboard… is the playback listed as local, remote or indirect?
Trying to figure out if this is a bug or based on your setup. Plex might think it’s on a different network if you’re using different subnets within your home network or if you have multiple active network components that establish their own local network (e.g. router + access point).

on the dashboard it says local.

in my setup I do have a separate router and AP but I don’t have multiple subnets and the devices are both plugged into the same AP so it acts as a switch while both are managed by the same router.

here’s some screenshots:
