Set up Home Server on Network

Server Version#:1.21.1.3830
Player Version#:

So ive looked for a similar topic and found similar but not quite answering my question.

So using plex on my home Tv it connects to my plex server via the internet and down to my Tv, but playing larger files its buffers, Is there a guide on how to stream plex via my home network to my home devices

Thanks!

I’m not quite sure I get your question…
You have a local Plex Media Server that’s using remote streaming for your TV in the same network?

What information is showing in the “now playing” tile for that playback on the Plex server dashboard? Just curious if the playback is actually going through the internet instead of establishing a direct connection.
Exemplary screenshot from the "now playing" section

Buffering can be based on lots of different reasons… therefore having some additional details based on the information from your dashboard will help.

That image above I think I need to update . but if it is remote under the timer it will say remote and the external IP it is sending the playback to ( IP blurred in my image)

There could be multiple causes of this. Not saying these are definitely the cause but some things I would check in no particular order

  1. check that both TV and server computer are on same network. Basically some home wifi routers have a “guest” network separate from the main one and PMS could think they are not on same network so treats it as remote. Generally you can check if they have the same local IP schema ( the first three numbers of IP eg. 192.168.0.X where X is the only difference)

  2. Change allow insecure connections to always or on the same network in the TV apps settings

  3. disable IPV6 in server network settings if you don’t need it.
