Bug (recent) Chromecast speaker connect via Plex on iOS

Since around 14 Nov Plex iOS app no longer connects to any Chromecast speaker (almost coincident with a Google Home app iOS update). On trying to play a track there is simply a rotating circle over the track (in its album location) album… no connection is made.
this is using the most recent versions of Plex iOS app (8.42) and Plex media server (1.41.2.9200)

The app works fine on iOS as speaker and over Airplay (any Airplay speaker)

Plex app on Android is fine on all output devices (native, AirPlay and Chromecast)
Also Plexamp is fine on iOS and Android… over all speaker transports
And Plex Media Server (on MacOS Sequoia 15.1.1) is fine also.

Still no connection from Plex (on iOS) to Chromecast speakers.
Plex (on Android) is fine.
Plexamp (on iOS and Android) remains fine … as is Plex on MacOS.

Could iOS 18.1.1 be contributory ?
