[BUG REPORT WITH SOLUTION] Channels not showing up with WinTV-dualHD

I have the Hauppauge WinTV-Dual HD tuner and noticed Plex is skipping over ABC. I did a scan in the Live Channels app and it is there and works.

I haven’t tried the neighboring zip code trick yet, but I will. Sounds like that hasn’t worked for everyone though.

Still not fixed with version 1.10.0.4523

Still not fixed 12/5/17

Not fixed with today’s update

I’ve figured out that only HD channels are missing. Most SD channels show up, but not HD channels.

And you’re 100% positive that your TV is picking up the HD channels and not just the SD version of those channels?

I think you misread what I posted. I posted that only the SD channels are showing up. (which has a few exceptions)

Every channel in bold on this list is missing. But it’s even a little more complicated than that. At channel 58, and 65 the numbering gets messed up. 58 is actually CNN (the only HD channel that Plex finds, but the name listed for it is FOXSSW), and 65 is E! (while the channel name for it is oxygen). These are the names from the channel scan too (which are incorrect in plex), which I know are correct because WinTv has them correct.

Making an extra post to mark this as unanswered again.

In your first post:

The channels aren’t DRM encrypted, because my 5 year old TV is picking them up.
Then you most recently updated to say:
I’ve figured out that only HD channels are missing. All SD channels show up, but not HD channels.
Presumably, missing from Plex but not missing from your TV. So… just to verify, the HD channels are showing up on your TV?

Yes, they’re showing up on the TV. They also show up in WinTv fine. It’s almost like when Plex finds the HD channels it just drops them. But it does pick up one HD channel, but it’s at the end of the list with the wrong name. And some of the scanned names are incorrect (even though they’re completely correct in the WinTv software)

Still not fixed with version 1.11.0.4633.

I’m able to force Plex to play individual missing channels by modifying the transponders file, and doing a rescan…

  C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Tuner\Shared\scanners\clearqam	ransponders\7000.ini

However, I can only target 1 or 2 channels doing this, and it isn’t very effective for fixing my channels.

Have you ever provided a full set of logs? All I see looking back over this thread is where you submitted a couple of what I assume is handpicked log files. If you are willing to submit logs please do the following.

  1. Remove your DVR so the logs will show the scan for channels.
  2. Ensure Debug logging is enabled, Verbose logging is disabled, and Allow server tokens in logs is disabled.
  3. Shutdown PMS
  4. Download your current logs in case they are needed.
  5. Remove existing logs from the AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Logs folder. This will ensure that only current logs from adding DVR are included in upload later.
  6. Restart PMS
  7. Configure DVR. When configuring please click the Scan Channels link in the DVR. When scan is complete match all of the channels found to Plex channels. Let the Program Guide download.
  8. Go to Settings/Server/Help, click the Download logs link and upload the logs to this thread.

This is not a guarantee that I will be able to determine why you are missing channels but perhaps something will be displayed in the logs.

Here is the latest set of logs… The last set should also include everything too though.

Log does not appear to have everything. Did you run all the way through DVR setup including matching channels? Log ends at 98% channel scan.

Here is a video of the process too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6Le0qD8-t8

Yes, see the video I just included.

Says video is unavailable. Perhaps still uploading or privacy is set to Private. I will check back later today to see if video is working. I know youtube used to take a while to “process” the video.
