Bug? Shuffle playlist before syncing with Plexamp

I have this big smart playlist with a limited count of 2500 items.

On plexamp I want to download a fraction of this. I put 1day and start the download.
The problem is that it starts downloading all the artists matching the smart playlist filters, but alphabetically. Even though I requested 24h of music, I ended up with 3-4 artists because all their name started with A.

I thought I would end up with a playlist with enough songs for 24h, but shuffled.
If you need further description or screenshot, let me know.

Hi there,

Maybe the following link will help you out. I created many smart playlists using this excellent tip. (Credit to @TeknoJunky)

That’s not exactly what I want to do.

I know how to shuffle playlist, problem is when I sync that playlist, it only loads the first artists.

I want the sync function to get a shuffled sample of the smart playlist.
I don’t think shuffling the view in the web browser won’t affect the way sync downloads the songs.

Okay I get it @santhori, that’s a nice a workaround. I can then sync the filtered list to any device I want. I’m not sure plexamp will pick it up but we’ll see.

If a playlist isn’t explicitly sorted, Plexamp will automatically shuffle it for you (and so grab a random subsample of it).

This is not my case.

Again, when I request a subset of a big smart playlist, it’s only the first few artists starting with ‘A’ that get synced.

the link already provided above, should do exactly that for smart playlists, every time they are loaded, it will be a different order.

this will also mean every time plexamp sync’s, it should get a different set of tracks.

you don’t need to use @TeknoJunky’s hack for this. the smart playlist must not have a sort criteria associated with it, which it shouldn’t have if you don’t apply one when creating it.
