BUG - Similar Artists metadata field no longer populated

Server Version#: Version 1.42.0.9975
Player Version#: Plex Web 4.148.0

Since server version 1.42.0.9975 I have added 8 new artists to my music libary and noticed that none of these new artists get any metadata for the Similar Artists tags.

Usually this metadata is populated either from allmusic or last.fm and all the artists have external links to at least one of these metadata providers on musicbrainz

Has anyone else noticed this?

I can confirm the same behavior. My server runs on a 2012 Mac mini with the same agent, scanner, and metadata options checked.

I feel the number of obvious and very annoying regressions making their way in builds lately is worrying to say the least. And when one appears, it takes FOREVER to get fixed.

Did Plex have another round of layoffs? along with the summer holidays is likely having an impact …

Careful yesterday I got a post removed because I “violated community guidelines” for simply mentioning this.

BTW… its not just new artists which is hit by this bug. If you (or the nightly butler task) refreshes an artist then all the Similar Artists tags are removed from that artist.

Hmmm, I cannot reproduce this behaviour - when I refresh metadata to existing artists the similar artists field is still populated

Very interesting … I just finished my weekly music library metadata refresh and its missing for every artists I’ve checked. What server version are you on, I’m on 1.42.2.10102.

I have updated to beta, and it’s still not fixed.Stilll when you refresh, no similar artist is generated

This issue is now fixed with server version 1.42.2.10122, however you will need to refresh any artists which are missing this data.
