[BUG] Subtitles not showing when movies downloaded for offline viewing iPadOS

This is on iPadOs, but I suspect it is the same on iOS.

Any movie I download for offline viewing does not show the subtitles that I can see when I stream it from my server. I’ll double check them before downloading them to the iPad to make sure that they are synced, so I know they exist and can work, but when later on I go to watch the movies the subtitles are nowhere to be seen. The ‘page’ for the movie will show that subtitles have been selected.

This happens both for subtitles I have imported from an accompanying file and ones I have downloaded from OpenSubtitles. Turning the subtitles off and on does not make a difference.

Same here, but I’ve checked on iPhone, and it works fine (only iPad is broken).

I see something not similar but close. When I download a movie, I can see subtitles if I play it from the downloaded section. But, if I go to my library, select the movie and then play it, there are no subtitles availables ! I think there is a mixup between both area done by the player.

Damn I was hoping this would be a workaround but no dice on my side.

My server is off in case that is useful info for the devs.

Jesus effing Christ. I managed to get subtitles showing by choosing Burn in Subtitles → Always mad Downloads → Maximize compatibility. The subtitles didn’t look burnt in and could be turned off but whatever, it was working.

Now after the latest update all the subtitles for the stuff I downloaded for my trip is gone. I’m mid travel so don’t have access to my library.

What a mistake getting this lifetime pass was.

And even when I have Internet there is no option to search for subtitles from within the app or open them from a file.

I spent so much time babysitting the damn downloads as they kept failing and now I can’t watch the stuff, what a waste of time.
