Almost 2 months and no response… amazing!
Let’s try to tag a random employee from the last release @romancamelia maybe we can get some attention that way? ![]()
Same issue on multiple Google TV with Chromecast devices.
It’s really annoying to see that not only this one wasn’t fixed, but now (for more than a month again) even italic subtitles are gone when transcoding audio.
I had the same problem. First on an Nvidia Shield, then on a Google TV.
This bug seems to be a little random. When I reset the Nvidia Shield, the problem is strangely solved. Also, I’ve found that the problem usually happens after I change the TV.
@wakiz, sadly reseting the shield didn’t help in my case.
3 months later and not even a “we are looking into it”…
You are entirely right. Even the setting « override subtitles parameters » does not work, nor change color subtitles.
I reset Plex client app on my SATV without success.
monthly bump… still broken
Haven’t read the whole thread, but am also having problems. For me the styling options are broken whenever audio needs to transcode only, as described in this thread: SRT subtitles cannot be formatted when audio is transcoded - #2 by Matt_K. Is it the same for folks here? (ie. if audio plays directly you can adjust the styling)
I also found that sometimes (rarely), when it’s not working, I can get some changes to work if I turn subtitles off/back on or otherwise force the player to redo the whole stream.
In this thread we are complaining specifically that the font size doesn’t work, i didn’t check if the other styling options work.
But seems to be the same issue, if the audio transcode, subtitle styling settings seem to be ignored.
still broken ![]()
Please fix this its a bit annoying on big screen tvs…
I managed to get around it in one of my tvs by setting the audio to pass through, this way i avoid the audio transcode and this bug.
Still have the problem in another tv tho. It would be nice if plex fixed bugs for a change… instead of useless features that nobody asks for!
Where can you set that?
In the plex app settings there’s a audio passthrough setting.
Hm is that on app on tv or server? I dont know if I am blind or my device doesnt support that…but I just can not find it ![]()
In the app.
I was taking about android tv app on my nvidia shield, not sure if that setting exists on smart tv apps…
This is an Android TV topic, so it’s the exact same app. ![]()
Not sure where gjerek is looking, it’s in the Advanced section.
hey sorry, found it under advanced yeah, I was looking just “audio” things ![]()
Disabling passthrough fixed the subtitle size thanks!
Daniel’s workaround did help me in cases my tv supports the sound format (thanks man!).
But it cases that it doesn’t it still has the same issue with the subs unfortunately.
BTW, I’m the guy who created this thread… can’t believe that no one from Plex said anything ![]()
It’s been 6 months!
Glad this workaround worked for you guys! I can’t take the credit tho since i saw it somewhere else ![]()
Yeah, 6 months and not even a “we are
into it”
Have you noticed that even when the devices are compatible and there is no transcoding, another error occurs? Subtitles do not respond to text font control codes. Italic does not appear. I suspect the same thing happens with bold etc.
Plex is one of the best programs of its kind. However, it loses a lot because of this glitch. Pity!
When I really care, I convert STR to ASS. Then I have the fonts I want to on the screen. But this is not a solution to the problem. Come on Plex!
