[BUG] TV episodes stop playing 2 minutes before end of episode

I’m having this issue, but only with a single show.

Same thing here. TCL ROKU tv. Movies stop a few minutes before the end. Restart, and fast forward to the point where it stopped, and it plays to the end.

Same issue here and I did not see the numerous threads before I started my own.

I do, however, see that any representative from Plex is loathe to respond.

Think I made the wrong choice in media streaming platforms.

Hi there. Do you guys see this issue if you disable HW transcoding on your Plex Media Server? Also do you see any particular commonality between types of media and when the issue occurs?

Hardware acceleration is not enabled on my server. I have exclusively and consistently had the issue when an H265 item needs to be transcoded for my (older) Rokus that don’t natively support it, when playback is initiated from an offset either due to

  • starting playback from an offset
  • seeking a significant amount (maybe by an amount that exceeds the transcode buffer?)
  • enabling burned-in subtitles during play (which I would guess requires the transcode to start from an offset)

It has been a long time since I posted this and lots of people experiencing the same issue. Originally I had resolved the issue by rolling way back to a previous version, but as more and more updates came out I updated back to current and issue persist.
I have noticed the same as most on this post the length of the episode will dictate how early the cut off will be, longer episodes (>1 hour) being cut off closer to 3 minutes before
I use the default settings for the most part, I have not noticed a trend in files types.
It always seems to happen if I start a show and then have to stop it before it ends, the next time I resume it the show will get cut off early

Hi all. We have finally been able to reproduce this consistently. We have identified the cause and the good news is that we should have a workaround in the client coming to the preview app by next week. The workaround will cause a short rebuffer when you would have normally experience the early ending. We’ll be investigating a proper fix, which will most likely entail some server changes.

We have published a preview release, v6.7.0 with the client workaround.
