Same here, though with Get BoX (Get.no branded) Android TV. TV episodes stop just before end, and the last movie I saw stopped 8min before end. Switched to old player and it worked, but I fast forwarded to the end which might be why it worked. So it might have behaved the same way with the new player as well.
I posted an update on another thread for this and Iâve not seen the problem since making those changes âŠ
I tried the settings in the other thread (posted by @anon5074910). Didnât work for me. Iâm seeing this issue on:
RokuTV (TCL)
FireTV
Works on: Chrome Browser
Iâve tried Transcoder setttings:
Transcoder Quality: Prefer Higher Quality Encoding, Make my CPU hurt
Transcoder default throttle buffer: 15
Doesnât work for me at all.
Also - my issue probably only started a month back. Before that it was working just fine - I know I download updates regularly, not sure if there is a correlation since Iâm probably 3-4 updates in
I fixed it the easy way⊠installed Emby. I donât like the Emby interface nearly as much, but at least it works properly. Maybe I will go back to Plex when they fix the issue. Sad - I have used Plex for 5 years.
Other option seems to be to pre-optimize everything which is a pain in the ass. Plex should really fix the problem.
Came from here TV Shows Ending about 3 minutes early on some players
Just wanted to say this issue still exists for me â canât believe it hasnât been addressed yet.
Just posting to add my voice as another user that is also impacted and annoyed by this issue.
Iâm also experiencing this on Xbox and Roku TV.
Xbox I get pretty much consistent buffering at around 3-4 minutes before the end of the episode. Have to stop and restart playback to continue. If Iâm unlucky itâs close enough to the end of the episode that it marks it as watched and then I have to also deal with starting from the beginning and navigating back to the end. Super annoying, and if the episode is ending on a cliffhanger it also really breaks the mood.
Roku it doesnât even buffer, it just ends the episode and goes to the next, so Iâve had to pretty much stop using Roku.
Have tried fiddling with Transcoder settings, doesnât make a difference.
Does anybody on PLEX side are working on this issue?
I got this annoying bug on my 2 Roku TvâsâŠ
They should look into this ASAP instead of adding junk Tv ShowsâŠ
Thanks,
François.
For a couple of months about 2 or 3 minutes after each live TV broadcast, the Nvidia Shield client just freezes, have to exit the show, then exit the grid, then go back in to watch live TV. I finally just got tired of walking into the den to see a frozen screen and having to jump through those hoops. Now Iâm using the HD Homerun client to watch live TV, but Iâd really like to go back to Plex for that. Running the server, beta channel, on a W10 box with plenty of processing power to spare. I did finally cross over to the dark side from Ubuntu when my old PC died around X-mas.
Anybody else experiencing these same symptoms? Any suggestions for a fix? Iâve tried flipping every setting conceivable, transcoding on/off, etc. Thank you for your time, and I do fall asleep every night to Plex playing old episodes of Scooby Doo, which is my sleeping potion.
Any update when this bug will be fixed? Iâve seen it with 2 Rokus and on Movies, too. It will stop about 5-8 minutes before the end of a movie. (Everything hard wired directly to the router with 200Mbps+ download speeds).
Iâm having the same problems on 2 rokus using the plexpass app. Movies stop about 3 minutes before credits consistently. Doesnât happen for all movies, but always ruins the mood every time it happens. Iâm officially nervous about streaming movies in groups now.
I had this happen the last two days using my Roku Streaming Stick, not from on deck but continue watching (if you have a show in progress). I donât think Iâve ever had this before. It doesnât seem to happen on my Roku Ultra.
Plex cutting off before the end of an episode there is a response to this thread from a plex employee.
Hello, Plex, any response to this issue?
I have found a workaround where before you start watching, mark the item as played first then it will play all the way through.
I found this as usually it will cut off before the end then if you play it again, its fine. The difference is that the consecutive time of playing, the item is already marked as played.
My observations are that it only happens with TV Programmes, never with Movies. It also never happens with short TV Programmes either such as ones that are 45 minutes long.
Iâd love a workaround, but this doesnât match my experience. The only thing causing this issue for me is significant seeking or resuming playback from an offset in an item that requires transcoding; played status has no impact for me. I can repeatedly cause the issue in the same already âplayedâ episode by
- starting playback from the beginning
- seeking halfway through
- watch until it cuts off
I can also play an âunplayedâ episode without cutoff if I start from the beginning and donât seek.
Is it possible that youâre seeing this because marking the episode as âplayedâ is clearing out a stored âresume from xâ offset thatâs associated with your item?
Also, I havenât seen episode length have an impactâit happens to me with items anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour+ in length.
I am experiencing something similar.
The sound cuts out for TV shows 2 - 5 minutes before the end of the episode.
The episode keeps playing - just no sound until the next episode starts
Iâm having this issue on Apple TV
How many users complaining for many months will it take for the Plex team to address that issue? We are not talking about an improvement here, but fixing a basic behaviour that totally breaks the experienceâŠ
