BUG [v1.41.4.9463] : PMS does not add anymore removed/missing titles to the trash

Maybe I found an unexpected behavior (bug?) doing the “Plex Dance” approach with this version :

The action sequence is:

  1. Moving a specific media folder outside of the library scanning root folder doesn’t add the media title into the library’s trash.
  2. As a result any further step of the “plex dance” approach doesn’t have any effect because the media title is still considered as part of the library and will simply be shown as “UNAVAILABLE” but is never added to the library 's trash even after several manual library scan attempts

This issue is linked to the Editions not recognized from filename thread where it was discovered while looking for a solution to the issue with Editions not being properly recognized by PMS.

After you remove this item, is the folder that has been added to the Plex library now completely empty?
If it is, then the behaviour is expected.

Test this by putting a small .txt file into the folder, then scan the library.

The folder (which is a subfolder of the library folder root) doesn’t exist anymore under the library root so I cannot add any file into it (if we expect this to be detected by PMS as this is not anymore under the library) and the PMS should infer when scanning from the library root that the movie file has been deleted (as the file which is still in the PMS database is not anymore under the library)

Moving the folder like this is a step in the “Plex Dance” approach so I wonder how this can be an expected behavior that the gone movie file is not added to the trash (otherwise why the next step is to cleanup the trash ?)

I did some further testing:

  1. Leaving the subfolder with some files but without the movie media container file
    → the title is deleted after the next library scan = this is the result I was expecting (in other words there is no bug)
  2. removing the subfolder with all its files including the movie media container file
    → the title is deleted after the next library scan = this is the result I was expecting (in other words there is no bug)

So in both cases I have the expected title deletion from the library once the library is rescanned after such deletion
As a result there is finally NO BUG regarding deleted media from the library and this issue can be closed

Probably there must have been an issue with some corrupted content in my PMS database and this issue was solved when I removed then added all root folder paths from my library which cleaned up such corruption
