[BUG] Video preview thumbnails being displayed are for the previous episode

Issue: If you use the skip button to go to the next episode, the video preview thumbnails displayed while seeking will be for the previous episode.

For example, when playing an episode of a TV show, the first episode played (let’s say ep2) will display the correct preview thumbnails. However, if you use the skip-next button in the menu, the preview thumbnails will be for the previous episode (ep2 rather than ep3). If you skip to the next episode again, it will again display the thumbnails for the previous episode (ep3 rather than ep4).

This issue does not present if the next episode is allowed to autoplay.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Play an episode, wait for it to load, confirm correct thumbnails by seeking through the episode
  2. Skip the episode
  3. Check the thumbnails again and see that they are for the previous episode

This issue has not been addressed for years, the earliest reference to the issue I found was in a Reddit post from May 2023 that I will link below. I’d appreciate if a Plex team member could open a ticket for this bug so that it can finally be fixed.
