I’m seeing this issue on everything, desktop, web, android.
Is your Server activity area showing a lot of activity? I was under the impression that this issue only affected Web/desktop. Android having the issue sounds like something new.
Can you use the Download Database action in the server settings and send it to me?
Right now yeah cause it’s still updating metadata on my movies share so the cpu is pegged, but it’s 100% not matching all the movies to the actor. But they show up if i click the actor face to get a thumbnail of what I have of that actor.
for example, i click Louis Gosset JR. It populated correctly with everything I have but says I don’t have “undercover grandpa” and that it’s only on a linked server. But if i click “undercover grandpa” it will say its available on my server, or if im on his credit page and i click my server under his picture, it shows the movies I have of his correctly.
Let’s wait until it settles before we call this one good or bad.
It’s going to take a long time so I’ll let it run and then see if anything gets fixed. I backed my whole database folder up so restoring it for a previous version wont be a problem and I havent added anything new since updating.
Wow, I’m AMAZED, after it updated all the metadata it’s completely working as it should now! It takes a few seconds to pull up the credits but it SHOWS WHAT I HAVE CORRECTLY NOW. So i’m going to say doing the upgrade and a refresh metadata worked

I just added new media and it reset all actor metadata to NOT show my server.
So while scanning everything to update metadata, adding new movies destroyed ALL actor credits to not show my server

well for some reason it’s holding credits now.
it’s just REAL slow populating someone I never clicked on before if it’s doing a scan.
So basically it seems to populate actor credits and save them now. If you havent/never clicked on that actor it has to populate them then it’s good to go
i dont know, it’s better than nothing i guess, i added a ton of stuff this morning and it didnt wipe anything this time so i guess its working as best as it can
Is this still being seen on Web/Desktop and Android? To my knowledge this was only happening on Web/Desktop. So seeing the behavior on a new client is a little suspect but could also just mean that the PMS is just busy. Keep an eye on it and let me know if it changes for better or worse.
@Atomatth seems to be working, but it has to populate the actor i click on if i never clicked on them before with the updated server version (on all clients), but once it does the server seems to store it now so it populates fast afterwards. I guess thats how discover works since it replaced how it used to be. I mean it works now, it’s just slower at first until it stores their credits. It’s not getting any worse that’s for sure
@Atomatth I added about 25 things this morning and it erased all actor credits, and isn’t detecting all the actors movies on my server again.
It’s been 30 minutes since I clicked on a actor and it only lists about 60% of what’s on my server. And I checked the web interface and android and they show the same thing.
I went back to the old version
I can’t deal with it resetting actor credits every time I add more than 5 movies and then having to wait for it to populate when I click a actor when the old version has the credits instantly
I guess that’s how discover works now, and it’s garbage, just get rid of actor credits if it’s going to do this. and it’s not a client/player thing since it happens on everything, it’s something with the server.
@Atomatth it seems to be working sorta properly with the latest version. The actors list gets populated and if it’s not populated correctly closing the app and reopeining it has it populated correctly. It doesnt seem to “save” credit, rather generates them on the fly so they disappear from time to time, but the closing plex after clicking a actor has it working well enough now.
(example, I click a movie with helen miran, it shows her movies, first populates them with plex, the other servers im connected to then SOME of what i have… clicking back and forth doesnt work, closing the app then going back to her list shows everything properly)
I guess thats how things got redone, i mean i had to update for the better transcoding and stuff so I can deal with this.
Seriously dude, I’m at the latest beta and I’m sick and tired of having to click and go back and close the player and go back in 5 times to get it to propagate the actor metadata right
what did they change 19 months ago that ■■■■■■ things up so bad? I’m at the point now i cant revert back with the amount of stuff I added but I keep getting reports from my users “why is this saying you dont have it but i just watched it” and why am i not seeing my libraries listed for actors for over a hour until the server decides to process it since manually forcing it doesnt work
And no, with the amount of things i have, I’m not renaming anything or putting files into their own folder, that’s garbage if the files are in a sub folder than the root one. I’m not doing that.
Can you reproduce the issue and download your PMS Logs and share them with me? Your DB too, please.

why dont you just be honest and say your devs wont look into this and it is what it is rather than flagging my posts and making me slam you on reddit?

You aparanty can’t handle the fact I’ve been complaining about this for 18 months, provided my database, been ingored, recreated the server and nothing you say works and you keep blaming me. So I’m screen shotting this and I’m going to provide proof to people once you flag it since you cant handle criticism and have no desire to look in to the issue and fix it.
Again, WHY does a 18 month old version work perfect, and whatever you changed in the version after that ruined actor credits?

and if my posts are such a issue, simply refund me for my lifetime plex pass and I’l go to another platform, you aren;t the only one.
A) I asked 18 months ago for support
B) I did what was suggested
C) I provided logs and my full database
and yet you sit here, insult me and flag my posts because I assume you have no answer to why this is happening, and your lacky sent me off to you cause i called him out after 18 months and now you’re trying to censor what i’m saying. Easy fix, refund my lifetime plex pass, we can go our separate ways since you refuse/cant/are unwilling to fix this issue.
and i’ll provide the community with how you respond, each post now, regardless of if you flag it or not is being screen captured and posted on reddit, along with your private message threatening me. and from what i’ve been reading NO ONE likes the redesign and removal of features. I guess just give me my money back at this point and I’ll go elsewhere since you refuse to address my issue seriously even though you verified it, have my database and still insist its something on my end.
Based on you and the quality of non support, refund me, take my lifetime pass back and I’ll go to one of the other 6 services that do what you do, most for 30 lifetime or less.
