I updated all my metadata with the new TMDB ratings. Now when I sort by critic rating it sorts by title but show the critic ratings in the grid.
I’m having the exact same issue. Sort by critic rating is broken.
Devs? A little help?
Thanks.
TMDB doesn’t have critic ratings. All the rating at TMDB are by regular users.
Therefore you must sort by “audience ratings”.
Hey Otto,
Sorry. This issue is hard to explain so here’s a little more descriptive detail:
If you go into a film library set for either grid or detail view you can sort by audience rating and it works fine.
However, if you sort by critic rating it also displays the IMDB rating as if it was a critic rating but then only sorts by name. Not a big deal but something that it shouldn’t do because, as you point out, IMDB is not based on critic reviews. It shouldn’t display any rating at all in this case because there is none.
The real problem occurs when you go into table view. In this view there’s no choice for an audience rating column. All you get is the critic rating column which is, again, incorrectly populated with the IMDB numbers and not sortable. It’s therefore impossible to sort the library by audience rating in table view.
Below is a screencap of the column choice pulldown while in table view. As you can see, the audience rating option is missing.
Again, this isn’t a killer bug but it’s annoying. Some people (like me) use the IMDB numbers to help weed out stinky content that sneaks onto the server. Not being able to sort for that in table view makes the job much harder.
I think there’s just a missing reference someplace for the audience rating column. It should be easy to fix.
Thanks!

The IMDb rating is also a user rating. So it can only sort by title because there are no critic ratings in the database.
Yeah, I get that. That’s not the problem. We’re talking past each other here.
The issues are that:
A) audience ratings are being incorrectly displayed as critic ratings in all views, and
B) the audience rating column is missing in table view so you can’t sort by audience rating in that view.
AFAIK critic ratings are working fine (although I don’t use them so I can’t be sure).
Sorry about it being so confusing., Please let me know if you need more images to understand what I’m talking about.
Thanks!
I have filed the current behaviour as a bug.
That’s what I appreciates about you Otto.
Thanks.
