[BUG] Movies > Grid/List View > Sort by Critic Rating (incorrect)

Server Version#: 1.25.4.5487
Player Version#: 4.69.1

Sorting by critic rating show IMDB scores but not sorted in any discernible way.
Previous report: [BUG] Movies > Grid/List View > Sort by Critic Rating (incorrect) - Plex Media Server / Metadata & Adding Files - Plex Forum

IMDb ratings are audience ratings, not critic ratings.

Agree. However, then, Plex misleadingly shows IMDb user rating below movie thumbnail only when you turn on critic ratings, leading you to believe that that is what it is sorting on.
Selecting other ways to sort hides the IMDb rating.

If Plex is sorting by critic rating then it should show that value, not IMDb user rating.

Better yet, what if Plex let you choose whether to sort by IMDb critic rating or IMDb user rating? The two can differ dramatically (movie might have been panned by critics when it came out but then got a cult following by users)

The IMDb ratings are only audience ratings, the only critic ratings we have are the ones from Rotten Tomatoes.

You currently cannot sort by audience ratings in the table view, but you can when using the regular view at the top by the filters:

But will you fix the bug described?

You have explained how the bug got there in the first place, and thank you for the explanation - but can we expect a fix somehow?

There isn’t technically a bug here, it’s just that that column shows both critic and audience rating but only sorts by critic rating.

I know there was some desire to split these two fields up for the table view, but UX is something I don’t personally work on.

It IS technically a bug, even if it’s not a bug in the specific area that you are working on.

As an employee I would asume that you would notify the developers responsible of the bug, that has been present for years now?

Or if you cannot do it, please do let us know where to file the bugreport.

It might very well be with the UX developers, but as a customer it’s not really relevant to me. It’s the same thing as bringing my car to the shop, but the guy I’m talking to says there’s no problems, because he’s responsible for tires and it’s the transmission that’s blown.

And additionally - there are no fields for audience/critic ratings available anywhere else, and seeing as there are no possible options to actually view critic ratings anywhere, the field is pointless. And while you’re at it, try sorting by other columns in table view and you’ll see critic ratings isn’t the only problem.

Please try and understand the frustration that’s customers get with these replies - check Reddit and many other places, people are getting really angry and frustrated with Plex because of this behaviour from many employees and the fact that simple newbee bugs seems to never get fixed or fixes introduces many new bugs. Seriously, it’s a simple matter of fixing the query from “ORDER BY CriticRating” to “ORDER BY AudienceRating” - it cannot in any way, shape or form take more than 5 min to fix the bug.

And I won’t even mention the Back-Arrow-bug…

(sorry for ranting at you, it’s not you personally, overall you are actually pretty good at responding in the forums - please convey the frustration to whoever’s in charge)

Now that you have had some time, could you please direct us as to where to report this bug so it can be addressed? It’s been 1-2 years now?

Worth mentioning: I have some smart collections I created before the bug, the list is ordered by critic rating and it still works. New smart collections do not.
