When sorting by critic rating, the sort seems to just be alphabetical with the exception that the ratings are now displayed. It does seem to group a handful of movies that do not have IMDB ratings (which is my main rating source) at either the top/bottom depending on if I am in ascending or descending order, but the rest remain in alphabetical order.
I tried this on the latest Plex Web as well as the latest Android beta, same issue. Not sure if that indicates it is an issue with the latest PMS, the agent, or something client side.
EDIT: I tested sorting by Audience rating, and that seemed to actually sort by the audience rating for IMDb intermixed with the audience rating for Rotten Tomatoes. I guess this is very confusing terminology, though I guess I can understand it since IMDb is scored by audiences, not critics. For some reason, I assumed audience rating was my own rating and critic ratings was the external source. However, it seems like critic ratings would only apply to RT?
Still buggy though because not all views (eg. list view) allow a audience rating column in web version (yet) and in iOS app it sorts by audience rating but shows year.
That’s fair, and I realized the changes in the DB to allow this bifurcation to be possible. I wonder if it makes sense to maybe not show sorting by critic rating if Rotten Tomatoes is not selected as the source? I don’t think I would be the only one that could be confused with the terminology even though it does make sense when you actually sit and think about it.
The behavior while sorting by critic rating can be very confusing at first.
Same problem here with today’s update. I made the mistake of refreshing all metadata after upgrading my Movie library to “Updated Matching”. Now the ‘Recommend’ page is nearly empty and the “Top Unplayed” section is only showing titles that DON"T have a TMDB rating. Only those that still have an IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes rating.
I would really like to know if there is a workaround or at least a plan on the roadmap to fix/clarify these issues. The Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB ratings are intermingled when selecting critic or audience and there is no option to select either in the new format. Add to that the ratings do not sort by the rating when Critic is selected and instead just add ratings under the movie while the list still sorted alphabetically. In addition, multiple clients do not show the rating, or source. While I appreciate that someone was trying to add a feature requested in another thread, it’s broken what worked and I find this to be an unacceptable series of issues to still be unresolved after 6 months.
Agree, this is frustrating. I’m using Rotten Tomatoes as it works with both critic and audience sorting; but I’m significantly more trusting of the IMDB audience rating and really, really, miss being able to sort on that. So I’ve a user story, does this work for people?
As an admin enabling my users to have a great experience when looking for content to watch, I need to be able to sort by the proportion of positive vs negative critic reviews (suggest Rotten Tomatoes) and by the average rating of the audience I have the most trust in (suggest options for IMDB, TMDB, or Rotten Tomatoes) so that they have trust in the results in order that they continue to use and adopt Plex as their media streaming vehicle of choice.
ACs: Given I am an admin, then I can choose from a variety of ratings to allow my users to sort and filter on. Given I am searching for a film, I can sort by an audience rating I trust, and see the audience’s logo beside the rating in card and list views (popcorn box/imdb logo, etc.,)
