Hey guys.
I recently bought a Samsung 4K Q60C TV, I installed the Plex but I have a lot of visualization problems so I will leave the reports and logs here to take science.
I recently installed the Emby and Jellyfin and none of these media Servers reproduce the problems I have in the Plex, but I really like Plex so I would rather use it, when the problems are solved.
I am using Plex in a Server/Hakintosh i5-11400 32GB 3600MHz, 2.5gbps Network. The TV is on WiFi 5GHZ because it is faster than the cable /100.
1st Problem - Some movies/series enter infinite loading, generating an error after a while. If you leave and enter the media again, the problem will be generated again, making it impossible to watch.
When checked on the control panel, the bandwidth chart is shown interrupted and no return, shortly before generating infinite loading. Media status is “buffering”.
My library is still small but I had this problem in many media of my library, such as: Foundation, Barbie, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, A Quiet Place Part 2…
But I didn’t have this problem in some large titles (high bitrate) such as Avatar The Way of Water, Oppenheimer, even at 4K HDR10+ remux.
Like this Print:
Here are the prints and logs that can better show the problem.
Note: I put a print of Avatar The Way of Water to show that even some films with a higher bitrate flow normally.
Log Foundation - Stop playing and buffering.zip (8.0 MB)
Plex Media Server Logs_2024-01-04_06-59-49.zip (4.3 MB)
2nd Problem - Some series are constantly jumping 5 seconds forward, every 20, 30 seconds (varies but happens all the time). The problem always happen at specific times, if you go back media, it will jump 5 seconds in the same place as before.
I had thought it could be a problem with transcoding the AC3 audio to AAC, but I embedded the audio already converted into AAC to be able to transmit directly and yet the problem continued.
Log Monarch.zip (7.4 MB)
Monarch - Skipping 5 seconds.zip (4.3 MB)
3rd Problem - Plex is transcoding unnecessarily audio AC3 5.1 and EAC3 5.1 to AAC and this has generated some problems.
I know it is without need because I installed the Emby and Jellyfin and both send the same audio in direct reproduction.
Like this:
After I installed Emby and Jellyfin, the problems were resolved. They don’t have these problem.
I’m reporting and saying this so that Plex can improve, because other than these problems, Plex is the best media server and I would like to be able to use it again.
Note: The UI of the media servers is in Brazilian Portuguese but I think it will be enough for you to understand.
Thanks!
