Samsung vs Sony

Apologies for the delay.
I bought a Samsung 50Q60C 2 months ago. It’s a good TV, with a good image and a fluid operating system, but it has some problems with Plex. I even had to switch to Emby or Jellyfin to avoid these problems.
Some movies buffer infinitely and don’t load, others, skip 5 seconds forward (all the time, it’s really irritating). The TV does not support Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. Dolby Vision plays as HDR10+, no need to convert, but Dolby Atmos is converted to AAC. It supports AC3 and EAC3 audio but for some reason Plex also converts it to AAC, causing some other problems, something that stream directly in Emby and Jellyfin.

Sony already comes with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, and that’s great, you shouldn’t need to convert Audio and Video in Plex (I’m editing this now because I actually don’t know if Plex will convert EAC3 audio to AAC unnecessarily, like it does on my TV). It also comes with Android TV, which gives you greater possibilities. Android TV is a little heavy, you have to see if the system will work well, fluid.

The Samsung TV control is great. It looks a little like the FireStick TV, small, thin, comfortable, and it even comes with a solar panel so you don’t need to charge the controller, it does it alone. It’s great and looks better than the Sony controller. But remote control is the last thing you need to worry about.

See if the Sony image is good, well calibrated (which it should be). I would take Sony if the system was fluid and ran Apps well.
But the Samsung Q60C is good too. But you’ll need to use Emby instead of Plex until Plex resolves these issues.

One thing that disappointed me a lot about Samsung was discovering that the wired network card only goes up to 100Mbps (cost cut). The Wifi card is 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz and is faster than the cable (in 5Ghz), but not much more. A faster speed isn’t necessary, but it upset me a little.
A friend bought a Philips Ambilight 55PUG8807 in the same week I bought the Samsung, paid 50% more, and his TV also has a wired network with 100Mbps. Most likely Sony should also only be 100Mbps. So find out and use 5Ghz Wifi, which is better.

I even made a post explaining all the problems I have with Plex and the Samsung Q60C.
