I have spent some time to get my ATV3 inside a 40" Samsung LCD in my bedroom. It's a really neat solution without cords hanging all over the place.
Since the last Apple update I need to get this SSL cert installed, and I think you all see where I'm getting here.
Question is: Is there some other way to install the certificate without removing my TV from the wall and unscrewing 30+ screws and then connect the ATV to my Mac via USB?

My thought was that why would I ever need to have hand's on access to that, I guess I was wrong and I'm really pissed off at Apple right now. I know that it's a security issue, but since there is still a way around it they failed anyway.
The original ATV iR remote works great, I've mounted the ATV in the lower right corner, just where the in-built speakers has it's holes in the TV:s plastic body. I'll get you guys some pics

Ah, I see you really opened the TV. What a shame, yea Id use Airplay until we know its a permanent fix, too. Guess thats a good Solution!
That's a pretty sweet mod. Simple but effective. I guess if there's not going to be another fix you could attach a cable permanently and have it sticking out the back of the TV? You can get extenders so you don't have a massive coil sitting there. Admittedly you'd have to open it all up again but you'd only need to do that once.
Clever idea putting the aTV inside the telly, however, I cant see why tangling the aTV down behind the TV doesnt do the same thing, and keep your TV warranty...
Yea Id think about that myself. Just attach it behind your TV, should actually have the same effect :P
When I open the TV again I'll make sure I let the cable stays in so that I can access it easier later on. I'm building up some energy, and it's not gonna happen in the next few weeks tough :wacko:
The reason to put it inside the TV is simple. The wall mount builds 1 cm from the wall, and the ATV is thicker than that. So I did not wanna screw up the viewing angle.
Regarding warranty. As you can see it's not the latest model from Samsung :D It's worth less than my worn out underwear and should have ended up on the dump if not for this built-in ATV idea. One other solution is to buy some kind of "Smart TV" with a native PlexClient. I'm running it on a 7-series Samsung in the living room and it works really great.

Does the Samsung Plex client handle the audio pretty well? I have an LG LED Smart TV, and tried using the Media Center app. Media Center connects to my PMS great (actually, I think it connects to the DLNA service), and offers a decent UI, but I found that the audio sounded like gorram tin, even (especially?) when piped through my A/V receiver. The Apple TV filters the audio sooooo much better. Since it's an app on a Smart TV, figured that's how it was... and figured they were all pretty much the same.
As far as I know Samsung doesnt need to transcode anything or does anything with the sound itself and just sends it to the AVR, so basically this means it should sound the same as it would when playing it with a macbook or windows laptop and plex connected to the AVR

In my opinion it handles audio very well. I just use it with a 2.1 system connected to the 3.5 mm headphones jacket and have not noticed anything different with it.
