The ability to login into our cable provider to view and play/record content
would be an awesome improvement to Plex

I agree! Despite this being one of the solutions best to try to get away from cable with. For those with cable, it would be nice to be able to remote view all channels and make use of DVR functions like you would connected OTA. There might be some conflicts of interest though (with the cable providers) as soon as you discuss anything in regards to “recording”. I am sure they have some exclusive stipulations in their contracts that (try to) force you into using their DVR solutions/rentals.

It’s called “TV Everywhere” and it is already found in competing DVRs such as “Channels DVR”. Have yourself a google search and cast your vote for the feature suggested before, rather than creating a new feature request for people to waste votes on.
