it’s ridiculous that you guys keep making TV app updates where’s the Nvidia shield update it’s freaking ridiculous it hasn’t even been like 4 or 5 months and you already have another TV update it’s ridiculous where’s our interface change in our names look and actors.and don’t use an excuse like a little come yeah let’s put dates out there so people can actually get excited and know it’s coming and say hey we’re going to try and push this out in the next month or two instead of just leaving us in limbo the only people that going to be using the TV apps for people that don’t know how to use technologyonly streamers people that are not paying people that create their Plex servers and all that stuff are going to be using a different box if they’re smart
I have to agree…the lack of updates is pretty alarming…
Patience grasshopper…
Be careful for what you wish. The previous version of the Roku app was received quite poorly. There was much wailing, gnashing of teeth, questioning of parentage, and foul language when it was released.
The new Uno version is getting much better reviews. However, as it is still in beta, it is apparently not yet ready for prime time.
Let Plex work out the kinks with a limited release before rolling out to other platforms.
As far as updates for the current Android TV app, they are quite frequent. There have been nine updates this year, including five last month. You can follow the announcement thread to be notified when new releases are available.
Considering PMS on the Shield is running 1.14.1.5490 and my Synology is running 1.15.4.919. There’s seems to be an issue either with Google Play Store or just a lack of updates on the Shield…
One other thing I noticed was the additional QA testing bit that I completely missed on the release notes. Can any one elaborate on this?
That’s the server part - not to do with the client. We are working on the SHIELD package to try to fix a hardware transcoding issue in the 1.15.x. Hopefully we have a solution for that soon.
The feature request to add Cast and Crew (at least director) details to the Android TV app was made sometime in 2017. Its absolutely ludicrous that we are still waiting for this feature.
This is not an unreasonable ask. As a film fan this is basic information on a film I want to be able to see. What’s the point of the metadata otherwise.
I am prone to believe that Plex is now more interested in partnerships, services than making the existing experience more complete and universal across viewing platforms. The ATV app has only seen bug fixes or under the hood improvements. Hardly any feature updates at all.
C’mon guys you got my money, now please get your act together.
Thanks for the update regarding PMS on the Shield.
The only problem is I don’t care about the server part using the shield as a server stupid unless you just can’t afford it anything else but I care about the user interface I want the user interface I want to see the actors then I will become a Plex pass member looking to use no out-of-date stupid Roku or Apple TV garbage come on help out
It’s an awesome plex server and meets my needs very well. Although I’m on the fence about getting a DS1019…It’s just the 10-bay limit that is preventing me from going that route…I’ve got the DS418 with 4 8TB and an old WD EX2 MyCloud with 2 8TBs. Also considering the DS2419…But I went the minimalist approach with silence, budget, and power friendly all in mind.
I agree with the basics of what you’re saying but… Did your parents forget how to teach you about constructive criticism or are you still an edgy thirteen year old?
As an example I can show you two ways of replying to your post:
-
You write like a second grade dropout who smashed his head on the keyboard. Nobody’s gonna bother reading that mess of a text.
-
The way you wrote your post makes it harder to understand everything you want to say, I know some wouldn’t even bother trying.
I know on a personal level that writing doesn’t come easy for everyone but there is one thing we all should do which makes it much easier. When you’ve written a text you should read it for yourself and see if it has a nice “flow”. Is there a small pause anywhere when you read it for yourself? Then you most likely need some kind of punctuation.
I know many keyboard warriors think the first method is the best but if you truly want things to change then the second method is superior.
