I am beta tester for the PMS and haven’t been able to get updates for the Nvidia shield. The Google play store still shows the last update was February 21, 2019. There have been several beta updates and PMS is now on 1.15.2.793. Is the Shield ever going to get beta updates in real time anymore??? Somebody from plex help address when can PMS be updated on the shield**. Otherwise Shield as PMS seems like an afterthought and gets zero attention, i cut the cord and switched to shield as PMS, but liveTV has been broken for 6months now! was hoping one of these last updates would have fixed it!!
+1. PMS 1.15.2.793 is now generally available but my NVIDIA Shield TV Pro shows nothing in the Google Store. I am on the same version (1.14.1.5490). The downloads page for PMS doesn’t even show the NVIDIA Shield! What’s the story Plex?
I know they said on Feb 6 that the Nvidia Shield release would have a slight delay but it seems pretty crazy that it takes QA that long to test the 1.15.* builds for the Nvidia shield. I would also like to know as well.
If love to see the Shield PMS server updated too. It’s always been dodgy for me. I now use the server on my Synology 918+. Plex can’t even play h265 properly via the shield whilst VLC has no issues with these files (and yes I have a Plex pass and HW transcoding is selected). This was the main reason I got a Plex pass and it just doesn’t work!
BTW @HDJedi, I find the Plex client on the Shield to be very flaky, so I use the Plex Add-on for Kodi and it works much better. I also prefer the transport controls in the add-on to the client. I have a lot of H265 and do not have any issue playing them with the Plex add-on for Kodi.
Yes, Plex people, please give us an update. The first beta version of 1.15.x was released 2 months ago, and the first general release was 19 days ago, and we still haven’t seen one for the nvidia. My Plex Web App keeps telling me to update my PMS to 1.15.x - I’d love to!!!
A simple response from the Dev’s would be great. Seems like everyone posting here has the Plex pass and would like to update their shield to the latest that includes a TON of DVR fixes.
I signed up for the Plex Pass when they announced they were adding DVR functionality to Plex and I have 2 Nvidia shields (Pro/16GB). I really hope they continue to SUPPORT this product.
Last I heard in another post was they had an issue with transcoding and that it was being fixed and it’s close to release. Feel like that was about 7 days ago or so.
@StSimm1, 3 weeks have passed since your last update with no nvidia pms release, and no update as to status. Can I assume the issue with hardware transcoding has not been isolated as was hoped? Or can we expect a release imminently?
