Can I add a password protected folder on a NAS to Plex?

Server Version#: 4.12.3

Hi, first time here so please be gentle. I have a Synology NAS which I have just successfully installed Plex on, with the intention of using the Plex front end on my Samsung TV.

I have a single folder on the NAS which contains films above a PG rating on it. This folder is only accessible with a username and password, whereas the other content on the NAS is simple shared to any device in on the same network with no credentials.

Is it possible to add a folder which requires a username and password to my Plex library?

If you have your other devices also use Plex (plex client apps on them),

then you can control the content ( library by library section ) what they are allowed to access.

This is how parents often have a NAS with multiple levels of content.

They grant access to the library section at the account level.

The children’s devices (tablets, phones, etc) are given accounts which can only access the material their parents deem appropriate.

You, as the server owner, are in control of this.

This is “account sharing”

You can search for more information on sharing in the support documents.

Here’s one place to start.
