I see the DVR can be set-up for HDTV shows using an antenna and some cable companies. However, I also see some references to DVR and Amazon Prime which confuses me. Can I DVR shows I bought from an app on amazon prime? If so does this require a tuner?

What references exactly and where?
Are you possibly confusing Amazon’s video streaming SERVICE with the Amazon’s FireTV streaming BOX? The latter will run a Plex client and playback Plex Live TV and/or recordings made with Plex.

My confusion, I have both the Fire TV and Fire TV stick, but I’ve never heard the phrase “Amazon’s video streaming service” I assume this is first run shows from Amazon?
One other question I would have is which tuner is suggested?

Amazon’s video streaming service is like Netflix and Hulu, with TV shows and movies to rent or purchase (digitally), as well as original content.
